Around fourteen members of the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club Grampian Region attended the Jaguar Open Day at the Kinghorn body Shop in Blackburn on Saturday 26th October.

Several demonstrations that employed the very latest technology, techniques and equipment were given to the group by the Porsche trained engineers covering the following areas:

  • Zymol makeover
  • Paint preparation & application
  • Computerised wheel alignment
  • Panel repair & dent removal
  • Jig demonstration
  • Display of "Before & After" refurbished alloy wheels

We were extremely lucky that Magne Normann, a new member to our club had his Series 1.5 E Type Jaguar in the shop for repairs and painting. Demonstrations were shown by senior panel beater Malcolm Gray on how to remove some of the dents from the E Type bodywork using specialist equipment as shown below.

Kinghorn Bodyshop car valeter Paul McLachlan demonstrated his car cleaning, waxing and polishing techniques using the latest products from Zymol.

Light refreshments were served throughout the afternoon courtesy of Graham's wife June and we were all extremely greatful for the spread that was provided.

Mike Anderson from the the P & J arrived later on in the afternoon to take several photographs and he will be reporting on these activities in the Aberdeen Press & Journal.

Our thanks go out to Graham and June for organising the event together with the coffee and sandwiches and the guys for illustrating the various demos such as the dent removal, paint preparation, painting, wheel alignment, wheel refurbishment and of course for polishing my Boxster. I took some stick from the rest of the JEC members about that initiative.
